A longer Bflat clarinet. Eric Baret and our four testers, musicians Michel Arrignon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Martin Fröst, and Paul Meyer, are proud to present the BCXXI.
Thanks to a longer lowerjoint the BCXXI clarinet by Buffet Crampon allows the musician to play to the low E-flat. This new note, corresponding to the low E of an A clarinet, gives the possibility to play a A clarinet part if needed. But the clarinetist can pair this low E-flat with the register key, and play perfectly tuned medium B-flat.
What we think :
This new B-flat, all closed fingering, is particularly insteresting in order to phrase correctly especially in the piano nuance. The beginning of the Claude Debussy Rhapsodie would for instance be played amazingly with this new tool.
However, the instrument needs to be practice. The new tonehole gives the clarinet BCXXI Buffet Crampon a new behaviour. Indeed the low E and B medium do not resonate in the bell anymore. There is a time needed to adapt and find a new balance.
Definitely to be tried !
